Stopping a Bad Panic Attack

You may think that a panic attack is impossible to stop. But the feeling of panic is actually a normal feeling given appropriate situations such as, say for example, you’re house is on fire or a person really close to you is involved in an accident. At these situations, the feeling of panic is only normal. In fact, the situation even calls for you to initially feel panicked. A panic attack is only labelled as a bad one if you start to feel panic for no reason at all. You feel frantic without even realizing the source of that fear. And it may seem that the feeling just wouldn’t end.

Stopping a bad panic attack is in fact, possible. Every case of panic attack is unique to an individual. It is not always the same case with everyone. If you know that you often experience this feeling of unreasonable panic, then you should suspect that you are having panic attacks. The best way of course, is to seek anxiety help. You may find for yourself a psychotherapist to see you in your condition. But you also must try to listen to your own self. You should be able to hear how you respond to your panic attacks. Recall your panic attacks, and try to remember what goes in your mind while you are experiencing them. What are your thoughts? How do you think? Do you think “This could not be possible, I am not going through this,” “Oh my, I really have to break free from this,” “I can overcome this. Now if I could just relax”?

When you are in a panic attack, your thoughts do not have clarity. So it is important that you clear out your thoughts. You may try yoga and meditation exercises. These exercises have great techniques to pacify and clear your thoughts, which are very useful, especially when you are having bad panic attacks. Also, it is always better to have someone to talk to with every problem that you have. Share your thoughts and your experiences to a friend, someone who understands, listens, and most of all, encourages and supports you that you can stop yourself from having these bad panic attacks. You may ask this friend to accompany you or to stay with you when you think you are going to have an attack. After all, troubles are made better when shared with friends.
